Give your kids back to God
I asked the LORD to give me this child,
and He has given me my request. 28 Now I
am giving him to the LORD, and he will
belong to the LORD his whole life." And
they worshiped the LORD there.
1 Samuel 1:27-28
Then it was time for the purification
offering, as required by the law of
Moses after the birth of a child; so His
parents took Him to Jerusalem to present
Him to the Lord.
Luke 2:22
Later on God tested Abraham's faith and
obedience. "Abraham!" God called. "Yes,"
he replied. "Here I am." 2 "Take your
son, your only son — yes, Isaac, whom
you love so much — and go to the land of
Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt
offering on one of the mountains.
Genesis 22:1-2
FOUR ELEMENTS OF GIVING YOUR CHILD BACK
TO GOD:
1. Giving your child to God is a
CONFIRMATION of your love for God.
If you love your father or mother more
than you love Me, you are not worthy of
being Mine; or if you love your son or
daughter more than Me, you are not
worthy of being Mine.
Matthew 10:37
2. Giving your child to God is a
CLARIFICATION of ownership.
Children are a gift from the LORD; they
are a reward from Him.
Psalms 127:3
3. Giving your child to God is a
CLARIFICATION of ownership.
bring them up with the discipline and
instruction approved by the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4
"So honor the LORD and serve Him
wholeheartedly. Put away forever the
idols your ancestors worshiped when they
lived beyond the Euphrates River and in
Egypt. Serve the LORD alone. But if you
are unwilling to serve the LORD, then
choose today whom you will serve. Would
you prefer the gods your ancestors
served beyond the Euphrates? Or
will it be the gods of the Amorites in
whose land you now live? But as for me
and my family, we will serve the LORD."
Joshua 24:14-15
4. Giving your child to God is a
CLAIMING of God’s plan and promises for
that child’s life.
Then the angel of the LORD called again
to Abraham from heaven, "This is what
the LORD says: Because you have obeyed
Me and have not withheld even your
beloved son, I swear by My own self that
I will bless you richly. I will multiply
your descendants into countless
millions, like the stars of the sky and
the sand on the seashore. They will
conquer their enemies, and through your
descendants, all the all the nations of
the earth will be blessed — all because
you have obeyed Me."
Genesis 22:15-18
