Baptism
Why should we get baptized?
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy
Spirit.
Matthew 28:19 (NLT)
Those who believed were baptized and added to the church—about
three thousand in all.
Acts 2:41a (NLT)

When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to
eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. But the
Pharisee, noticing that Jesus did not first wash (βαπτίζω)
before the meal, was surprised.
Luke 11:37-38 (NLT)
Paul said, “John’s baptism was to demonstrate a desire to turn
from sin and turn to God. John himself told the people to
believe in Jesus, the one John said would come later.” As soon
as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord
Jesus.
Acts 19:4-5 (NLT)
Big Idea:
Baptism is a public declaration (advertisement)
of a brand new association.
Who should be baptized?
Anyone who is old enough to make the decision
to publicly associate with Jesus.
Everyone who becomes a Christ Follower!
Does Baptism save you?
No, baptism is a public profession, an advertisement,
of your saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
And Jesus replied,
“I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 3:43 (NLT)
When should you be baptized?
Baptism should happen after someone makes a faith decision.
Just as we choose to follow Christ, the Biblical model is that
we then choose to follow Him in Baptism.
Do I have to be baptized in public?
The point of baptism is a public declaration of a new
association.
For many, it is the only sermon they will ever preach!
